Refund and Cancellation Policy – Das Taxis

This Refund and Cancellation Policy outlines how bookings can be cancelled or refunded when using services provided by Das Taxis, based in Dunfermline, Fife. We aim to offer flexible and fair cancellation options while ensuring operational efficiency and reliability for all our customers.

1. General Policy

At Das Taxis, we understand that plans can change. Whether it’s a local ride, airport transfer, or long-distance journey, we provide reasonable options to modify, reschedule, or cancel bookings without unnecessary stress or penalties—provided it’s done within the permitted time frame.

This policy applies to all bookings made by:

  1. Phone
  2. Website
  3. Email
  4. SMS/WhatsApp
  5. Third-party or partner platforms (if applicable)

2. Local Journey Cancellations

Free Cancellation:

  1. You can cancel any local ride within Dunfermline or surrounding areas (up to 15 miles) up to 1 hour before the scheduled pickup time without any cancellation fee.

Late Cancellation:

  1. Cancellations made less than 1 hour before the scheduled pickup time may be subject to a £5–£10 cancellation fee, depending on the driver’s dispatch status and distance traveled.

No-Show:

  1. If the driver arrives at the pickup point and the customer is not present or reachable after 10 minutes, the ride will be marked as a no-show, and full fare or a minimum service charge may apply.

3. Airport Transfer Cancellations

Due to the pre-scheduled nature and long-distance planning of airport trips, the following cancellation terms apply:

Free Cancellation:

  1. You may cancel your airport transfer up to 6 hours before the scheduled pickup time and receive a 100% refund of any prepaid amount.

Partial Refund:

  1. Cancellations made 2–6 hours before pickup will incur a 25% cancellation fee, and the remaining balance will be refunded.

Late Cancellation / No-Show:

  1. Cancellations made less than 2 hours before pickup or failure to show up without prior notice may result in no refund.
  2. If flight delays occur and you notify us in time, we will reschedule without charge when possible.

4. Long-Distance and Prepaid Bookings

For bookings that involve travel outside the local area or that require prepayment (e.g., group transport, business travel), the following applies:

Free Cancellation:

  1. Cancel at least 12 hours in advance for a full refund.

Partial Refund:

  1. Cancellations made 6–12 hours before pickup will receive a 50% refund of the total booking cost.

No Refund:

  1. Cancellations made within 6 hours of pickup time may not be eligible for a refund unless due to unavoidable or verified emergencies.

5. Refund Processing

  1. Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method (card, bank transfer, online payment, etc.).
  2. Please allow 7–10 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
  3. We will notify you via email or SMS once your refund has been processed.

6. Modifications and Rescheduling

  1. You can reschedule a booking (subject to availability) at least 1 hour before local rides or 6 hours before airport/long-distance trips without a fee.
  2. Modifications made after the cut-off time may incur a rebooking charge, depending on the journey type and timing.

7. Special Circumstances

We may consider exceptions to the above rules under certain conditions such as:

  1. Medical emergencies (with evidence)
  2. Severe weather conditions
  3. Airline cancellations (with documentation)
  4. Accidents or critical service disruptions

Please contact our support team directly in such cases, and we will review them fairly.

8. Group Bookings or Business Accounts

For multi-passenger group bookings or contracted business rides:

  1. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance to avoid charges.
  2. No-show or late cancellations will be charged based on the confirmed rate or agreed contractual terms.
